The fall sports seasons have come to a conclusion for the Cadets after posting strong seasons in all sports...
*The volleyball team lost an extremely close battle at New Hampton on Monday night in a five-game set with the score of the last game at 16-14. The girls made good progress all season and clearly were playing their best volleyball at the end of the season.

*The football team lost a hard-fought overtime contest at Maquoketa on Wednesday by a score of 19-13. Playing conditions were less than ideal, but the boys fought extremely hard battling back from an early 13-0 deficit. The game was literally decided by inches as the boys just missed a potential go-ahead score in overtime.

**All fall sports squads (volleyball, girls cross country, boys cross country, football) need to be commended as well on their outstanding sportsmanship displayed throughout the fall. Our teams are consistently sited by opponents and officials for their good sportsmanship. This is a credit to their coaches for modeling this behavior and truly making sportsmanship a top priority at Crestwood. I wish the fall sports members good luck on the rest of their sports to come this year, and I encourage them to be as involved as possible, especially the seniors. You don't get these opportunities again!

Slight Schedule Change...
*The Jr. High girls basketball games scheduled for Monday, Nov. 4 have been moved to Tuesday, Nov. 5 - same times and locations as were previously scheduled. Howard-Winn Parent-Teacher Conferences and 2nd round of football playoffs are on Nov. 4.

Major Schedule Announcement...
*Crestwood has been asked and has accepted to host the sectional wrestling tournament this season. The date is Saturday, Feb. 8 starting at noon. Teams attending this sectional can be found on the IHSAA website under wrestling. For this date to work the boys basketball games scheduled at Crestwood on that day have been moved to North Fayette. The times for the games vs. North Fayette will be announced at a later date. The district wrestling tournament on Feb. 15 will be hosted by New Hampton.

Meet the Team Night Announced...
*The Meet-the-Team Night for winter sports will be Friday, Nov. 22. More details will be released in a few weeks. The girls basketball season gets underway with the first practice on Monday, Nov. 11, and the boys basketball and wrestling seasons begin on Monday, Nov. 18. It looks to be an exciting winter season ahead with experienced squads returning for all.

Interested in Becoming a Certified Coach or Official...
*There is a real shortage of coaches and officials in Iowa and in Northeast Iowa, especially. If you are interested in becoming a coach, contact NICC about potentially earning your coaching authorization. Officials are also in great demand, but you need to have the proper certification to be an official. Contact me if interested in becoming an official or you can find information on either the IGHSAU or IHSAA sites.

Hoping for a mild winter with no cancellations or postponements...Yes, I am probably dreaming!
