    • Student Site Council
    • Alternative Schedule on Early Out Days
    • More Student Recognition Programs
    • New Courses, New Opportunities, and New Challenges!

We welcome new staff to the buildings this year or reassignments.  Additions to the 7-12 staff:

    • Jenny Butler (Secondary Reading)
    • Ben Hansen (HS Science)
    • Kirsten Johnson (HS Math)
    • Rick Meisner (HS Special Education)
    • Jim Obermann (HS English)
    • Cheryl Riha (HS Media Center Associate)
    • Betty Schmitt (HS Special Education Associate - added during 2013-14)

    Reminder about Credits

From September 1, 2013 forward, Crestwood High School will use the following guide to determine the grade classification:

    • Minimum 13 credits earned: Sophomore
    • Minimum 26 credits earned: Junior
    • Minimum 39 credits earned: Senior

    Why is this changing?
    • It is the belief that the credits earned are a better determination of the progress through high school.
    • Crestwood High School is changing.  School now is a place of learning versus an institution of meeting the minimum criteria.
    • Accountability.  The “sit and get” method does not work.  Students who complete their coursework in a timely fashion should be awarded with the benefits of their grade classification.

    #cadetnation is back!
Reminder:  #cadetnation Fridays are the 1st Friday of every month.  This is a way to show your Cadet spirit.  Remember to wear your #cadetnation t-shirt on Friday, September 5th.

    Teacher Industry Tours
7-12 Grade teachers expanded their learning during their workshop days by visiting local business and industry.  Representatives from the Iowa Association of Business and Industry presented workforce trends and skills needed for upcoming careers.  Also on this day, teachers toured Donaldson's, Upper Iowa Tour and Die, Featherlite, Masonry Technology, Cresco Food Technology, and Sunopta.

THANK YOU to all organizations for helping to expand teacher's opportunities and the classroom for students.

What Does Assessment Look Like with CBE?
A teacher shared the following graphic with me this summer.  It is exactly what we are building towards with our CBE plan.
