Greetings Cadet fans!  This past week has thrown out many different "curve balls" and we look to adjust to each and every pitch with an end result of a base hit (wrong season I know).  As we look forward and with the new positions, we are continuously looking to adapt into our new worlds and improve each day to help our students become successful.  Constructive feedback is always welcomed to help us move forward.

Parents/Family Members/Fans- Roles in Activities:

(Information taken from the IHSAA website)
ACTIVITY CODE OF CONDUCT: Something to remember while attending activities.
As the parent of an activity participant, I will:
-Remember my daughter or son participates in educational activities for fun.
-Do my best to understand the purpose of educational activities which always
puts education first.
-Remember it is a privilege, not a right, for my son or daughter to participate in interscholastic
-Remember my attendance at an interscholastic activity is a privilege, not a right.
-Always conduct myself with character, and insist my daughter or son do the same, even
when it is not the popular thing to do.
-Treat all people (coaches/advisors, contestants, contest officials, other spectators) with
respect at all times and insist my son or daughter do the same.
-Support all students participating, not just my son or daughter.
-Be gracious in victory and accept defeat with dignity.
-Honor the spirit and intent of the rules under which my daughter or son participates.
-Never demonstrate threatening or abusive behavior or use foul language.
Try my best to be a fan, not a fanatic!

Attendance at Howard-Winn Schools is IMPORTANT!!!
Our complete attendance policy with descriptions can be found on our school website in the student handbook.  I would encourage you to take a look and familiarize yourself with this.  We want our students to achieve great things here at Howard-Winn and for them to have this opportunity, they must be here.  COMMUNICATION with the student's respective office is important if a student must be absent for any reason.
Student Absences - Excused
School Board: Code No. 501.9
Regular attendance by students is essential for students to obtain the maximum opportunities from the education program. Parents and students alike are encouraged to ensure an absence from school is a necessary absence. Students will attend school unless excused by the principal of their attendance center.

Have a great week and GO CADETS!

Yours in Blue,
Mr. Hilsabeck
