FCS and Business Classes
This fall Family/Consumer Science and Business classes are being taught online in collaboration with instructors from NICC and New Hampton. NICC, NH and HW are working through this collaborative first offering. It is a learning curve for all, students, teachers, and administration but an important journey.

Protocols are being worked out between students, instructors, and support at Howard-Winn. Mrs. Lentz's energy in bringing these pieces together is valued. Learning in the future will look different, but still at the core will be collaborating, creating, and imagination.

On Thursday FCS instructor Mrs. Schmeidel and Business instructor Mrs. Ayers came to Crestwood High School to meet students face-to-face, answer questions, and provide some guidance and clarification on course expectations.

Meet Mrs. Bohr

What grade levels and subjects do you teach?                   8th grade Science and 7th grade World Studies

How many years have you been an educator? How many years at Howard-Winn?
This will be my 9th year at Howard Winn.

Where did you attend college?

Luther College

Was there a particular event or person that inspired you to become an educator?
Teaching is my second career. Looking back at everything I did up until then has led me back to children. I started teaching Sunday school while still in high school and really enjoyed that. I worked at the clinic as a nurse for ten years. When my three sons were little, I spent time helping out in their classrooms. This was what inspired me to go back and get my teaching degree. I wanted to be able to influence and inspire students.

What is your favorite thing about Howard-Winn? My favorite thing about Howard-Winn is the students and staff! They are great to be around daily. I continue to learn everyday from other teachers and students.

Any words of wisdom or advice?

We are all life-long learners. Don't be afraid to try something new. Each day is an opportunity to discover new things about teaching, students, and yourself. We are all "a work in progress."

More about Mrs. Bohr:
I am married to my husband Dennis and we have three sons, Nick, Leyton, and Tristan. We live on a dairy farm that is currently expanding. We also raise beef cattle. I love to be outdoors, swimming, walking, and riding bike. Feeding calves, being around animals and nature are my favorite past times along with watching sporting events. I am an Iowa State basketball fan.
