1st Quarter Mid-Term
1st Quarter Mid-Term is on Wednesday, September 23. Mid-Term reports will be sent home late next week. Please take some time to go over the report with your son or daughter and feel free to call his or her teachers about any concerns you may have. There is still plenty of time to turn around failing grades or to improve upon this report. Students who are having difficulty should talk to their teachers and take advantage of extra help offered before or after school and during structured study halls. Mid-term report cards mean that we are one-eighth of the way through this school year. Your student’s grades and comments on this report provide a good overview of their achievement so far this semester. These things, combined with communication with their teachers, will provide a road map to help them reach their full potential in their courses.
Crestwood FFA placed 3rd in State at last weekend's FFA Dairy Evaluation Career Development Event! Trevor Malven was the 1st Place individual in the State. Congratulations!
Junior High Study Group
Study Group is open to all junior high students who would like to have a place to work on homework, study for upcoming tests, or to get extra help from teachers. Study Group will be held after school Monday - Thursday from 3:15 - 5:00. Each night there will be a Jr. High teacher monitoring it. Throughout the year study group is also used as a place to help students raise grades or to help get late assignments turned in. Attendance for this, at times, might become mandatory for some students. Parents will be notified when this happens. Please visit with your son or daughter and and encourage them to use the Study Group for some extra assistance if it will benefit them.
Meet Mrs. SchultWhat grade levels and subjects do you teach?
I teach high school mathematics. The four specific courses I am teaching this year are Algebra I, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus and Intro to Calculus.
How many years have you been an educator? How many years at Howard-Winn?
About 2 years in education (including my student teaching experience). I am currently in my 2nd year at Howard-Winn.
I attended college at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. I graduated in 2013 with a bachelors degree in Secondary Mathematics Education.
Was there a particular event or person that inspired you to become an educator?
My mom has been an educator her whole life and is a huge reason why I chose to enter this profession. I also had a couple high school math teachers who I really connected with and respected who inspired me to teach math.
What is your favorite thing about Howard-Winn?
The people I work with are seriously the best. I could not ask for more fun and supportive co-workers. I also really love working with the students at Howard-Winn. They are motivated to learn and make teaching fun. I feel very blessed to be a part of the Howard-Winn family.
Any words of wisdom or advice?
"Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time."
"Character is how you treat those who can do nothing for you."
More about Mrs. Schult:
I got married this past July to the tallest, cutest guy around. Matt is a sixth grade teacher, the freshman volleyball coach and the varsity girls basketball coach in New Hampton. We enjoy traveling, hiking, biking, and playing and watching sports. We are both originally from Wisconsin, so of course we bleed green and gold. GO PACK GO! :)
