All State Football
Congratulations to Matt Goodman, Noah Guyer, and Dalton Kerian for being named to the Iowa Football Coaches Association 2015 Academic All-State Football Team.

We understand that students' performance in the classroom can sometimes be difficult to manage while participating in athletics, but their hard work has not gone unnoticed.

We applaud them for their commitment and dedication to perform with the highest of excellence academically and on the field.

STEM Passion Projects
STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education. We focus on these areas together not only because the skills and knowledge in each discipline are essential for student success, but also because these fields are deeply connected to the real world and in how students learn most effectively.

One characteristic of a competency based education (CBE) system is a learning environment that is student centered and personalized. One of the key indicators of this is a system where students have voice and choice in when, how, and where they learn and how they demonstrate proficiency. Assessments are also a meaningful and positive learning experience for students in a CBE system. As a final assessment in the 7th grade STEM class students used critical thinking skills to collaborate, connect, and communicate an area in their life that the are passionate about. Students used passion projects to demonstrate their understanding and linked the science, technology, engineering, and math to a variety of student interest areas from basketball, to bow hunting, to Italian cooking, to marine biology.
