Parent Teacher Conferences
Thank you parents that were able to attend conferences this week.  Considerable research documents that parent involvement in a child's education is directly related to positive outcomes, such as higher academic achievement, student school attendance, student and parent perceptions of classroom and school climate, as well as student attitudes and behavior.  We also want parents to have a good understanding of their child's achievement at school. One of the many ways for parents to be involved in their child's education is to attend school conferences - we appreciate your active involvement.

At the conclusion of the conference we asked the parents to fill our a brief survey.  Below are the responses as of Thursday night:

Consumer Economics Mock Interviews

Students in Mr. Govern's Consumer Economics class recently performed mock interviews during a career unit. During this unit, students describe life and work values that they hold as well as identify their interests, aptitudes, and personality traits that might influence their career choices.

Students explore different sources of career information, including O*NET  (https://www.onetonline.org) which is a comprehensive online database of job characteristics, skills, and knowledge that are required for most jobs.  They identify ways to find out about job openings, search for job postings that are in career areas of interest to them, select an opening and go through a mock job application process for that position.

During this process, students complete a sample job application, create a personal resume and write a cover letter. They conclude the career unit, by preparing for an interview and then by participating in a mock interview.

Consumer Economics is a course required for graduation from CHS.  Students also have the opportunity to take Pre-employment Strategies as a concurrent enrollment course
