#CADTENATION was able Friday morning to catch a glimpse of Zachary Dietz, Crestwood graduate class of 2015.  Zachary is presently completing Marine Corps basic training in California. Much appreciation and gratitude goes out to Zachary, and his family, for his commitment and courage to serve our Nation.  We at #2020HowardWinn are very proud of him.  THANK YOU KCRG for telling this story and your service to Eastern Iowa.

CADET NATION: moving forward
As we move to the Graduation of the class of 2016 (May 22) and the end of the school year many things are happening.  Track meets, Golf meets, concerts, contest, finals, the staff and students of #2020HowardWinn are working hard to finish strong.

Though we are making plans for the fall and the 2016-17 school year, it is important not to forget to take time and enjoy the moments now.

Prom and After Prom was a GREAT success. The young people have shared with me the fun they had and a "BIG shout out" goes to the parents, Staff and the Prom Committee for making it a "night to remember".

#2020HowardWinn: 2016-17
We are tracking enrollment monthly and as of 4/25/16 we are stable with a slight increase of 8 students.  The thing to keep in mind is that we live in a very transient society and this number can swing either way very quickly.  For example, since the "official count" date last fall, we have had 40 new students enroll and 32 students withdrawal.  That is 72 changes.

Many things are happening that are beyond our control: where people choose to live, funding from the State, and unfunded mandates are on the horizon.

Even with these challenges Howard-Winn continues to move forward.  The graduation rate for the class of 2016 is projected to be 97%.  Amazing students are doing wonderful things, from building a guitar from scratch using a cigar box, to a bilingual 8th grader teaching Spanish to 3rd graders, to elementary students using technology to edit pictures to show only 3-dimensional shape, the young people of CADET NATION are being prepared to compete and contribute locally and globally.  Learn more at:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alfmczZ4zbc
