Wednesday we said our "goodbyes" to the 2015-16 school year. It seems like just yesterday it was August and we were welcoming back students. The time has flown by!

Pausing a second to look back, GREAT and WONDERFUL things have happened in CADET NATION.  Powerful teaching and learning resulted in positive growth and academic achievement. From NASA Astronaut Clayton Anderson to Iowa Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds, many have come to see first hand the EXCITEMENT at Howard-Winn.

Enjoy the Summer. Rest, recharge and get ready for the adventure to continue this Fall. Be sure to visit the Howard-Winn booth at the Expo Center during the Mighty Howard County Fair. And of course EXCITEMENT is building for the CRESCO 150th Celebration.
The summer of 2016 is going to ROCK!
Enjoy Family and Friends and we will see in August!

Saying "Goodbye" to Mrs. Rhonda Vobr
Last Thursday CADET NATION celebrated 28 years of service and said farewell to Mrs. Rhonda Vobr.

Sharing her story, Mrs. Vobr told how education had changed and how she had "reinvented' herself several times.  From working in a Chiropractor's office to library aide to secretary to school Librarian to GAT teacher (Mrs. Vbor would say GAT facilitator!) Rhonda is the template of a "life long learner"!

Mrs. Vobr now is going to devote her time to being a "grandmother" and to enjoying her grandchildren.

There is no doubt she will be exciting her grandchildren to learning and creating!

THANK YOU Mrs. Vobr and much happiness to the next chapter in your life story!

Physical Plant Update: Stadium
Investigation and preliminary planning is underway focused on the Football stadium bleachers, concessions, bathrooms, and stadium entrances.  The scope of work would include resurfacing the track.

The thinking is to have a DRAFT plan ready to roll out and share during the150th Celebration. With the sports complex visible from Highway 9 it is one of the first thing folks see when coming to the school.  The intent is to have a sports complex that will compliment the GREAT things happening at Howard-Winn. Thanks to the financial support of the All Sports Booster Club for securing the FinishLynx: Sports Photo-Finish & Fully Automatic Timing Systems, along with resurfacing the track, the intent is be the host of State District Track meets in the near future.

Architect DLR and ESTES LLC will be the construction manager.

Thanks to Howard-Winn staff and community members for assisting the Board in the planning process.  More information will follow.

Last Days of school looked like....
