Ellis Island

Students in Mr. Steffen's 8th grade social studies class are given role identities as either immigrants arriving from Greece, Italy, Russia, Poland, Scandinavia, or Germany to Ellis Island in 1900 or Ellis Island processors who came to America as immigrants ten to twenty years before.

Students role-playing successful immigrants took seriously the moment when they pledge their loyalty to their new nation.
