Winter Sports


Ryan Steffen (132), Trae Pecinovsky (152), and Trevor Trende (195) all qualified for the Iowa State Wrestling Tournament. 

Congratulations to our state qualifiers, their parents, and coaches on this great accomplishment and good luck in Des Moines.  

The first round for class 2A was Thursday night at 6:00.

Girls Basketball
The Girls Basketball Team will play Mr. Vernon at Manchester on Saturday, February 18th at 7:00 PM.  If they win they will earn a spot in the Iowa Girls State Basketball Tournament in Des Moines which is held during the week of Feb 27th - March 4th. 

Boys Basketball
The Boys Basketball team opens post-season tournament play at Charles City on Monday, February 20th at 8:00.

Mindset Development

Mindset Development is a new course that will be offered at CHS beginning next year.  The Course is designed to enhance the student's ability to develop a successful mindset, impacting all aspects of their life.  Students will explore and develop self-awareness, self-leadership, and qualities of successful people. 

Intended student learning outcomes of the course:

- Students will achieve a better knowledge of their own mindset and self.

- Students will learn and practice working toward their greatest potential.
- Students will practice and develop grit as a tool to overcome adversity.
- Students will study and apply the characteristics of a growth mindset. 

This will be a 1 credit course offered to 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students.
