Marine Corps Educators Workshop

Jason Dobbs, Director of the 7-12 Bands, Casey Bouska, High School Special Education Teacher, and myself have been at the Marine Corps Educator Workshop in San Diego this week. During this workshop we were exposed to all the opportunities the United States Marine Corp has to offer. I was really surprised at the vast education opportunities offered to Marines. From photography to engineering; basically, you name it, and the Marines will prepare you for it. Before the recruit even becomes a recruit, they take the ASVAB (Armed Force's Vocational Aptitude Battery) where they will receive a score. They are able to choose what their MOS (job/career) will be from the top three aptitudes.  Although some may not always get the preferred match, the Marines and their recruiters will do their best to suit the needs of both the young men/women as well as the needs of the Corps. The skills gained from this education will also easily transfer over into civilian life. After this week I am convinced that Marines are using teamwork, discipline, and accountability to maker quality Marines and quality citizens.

Check out the video at this link to see how our week started:

As one Marine said, "The Marines will allow you to pursue your passion while serving your country."

Here are a few pictures of the week.

#cadetnation Friday
It's that time again: #cadetnation Fridays are the first Friday of every month. This is a way to show your Cadet spirit. Remember to wear your #cadetnation t-shirt on the first Friday of the month. Students, wear your #cadetnation shirt to school on Friday, March 3rd.

If you don't have a #cadetnation t-shirt or it is in the laundry, wear another Cadet shirt or just wear blue that day.
