This is what I call delicious "Problem Based Learning"!
Students from Ms. Park's Foods II class David Babbitt (Grade 12), Aaron Wetherington (Grade 12) and Kamyrn Erickson (Grade 9) first designed PACMAN "cookie cutters" on their computers. They then used the 3D printer to make the molds and then used the molds to make WONDERFUL tasting cookies!  (Kamyrn Erickson not pictured). Way to go CADETS! (Thanks for sharing them with me!)

Another GREAT week to be a CADET!
Congrats to Cadet Wrestlers Trevor Trende, Trae Pecinovsky and Ryan Steffen on your State Tournament last Saturday.

Cadet Boys Basketball win over Charles City was FANTASTIC. Look out Forest City!

Cadet Girls Basketball is STATE TOURNAMENT Bound! As such, classes are cancelled Tuesday, February 28 so CADET NATION can attend the game! With a CADET victory on Tuesday the Girls would play next on Thursday @ 5:30.

Community Pep Rally and send off for the 2017 State Qualified CADET Girl's Basketball TEAM!
Sunday, February 26 @ 1:00 in the Crestwood Gym.

Banks Hours of Instruction

Please note that we now have but 8.5 hours remaining.

With the cancellation of classes Tuesday, we will exhaust banked hours.

This means that going forward we are required to make up any instructional time missed.

**As stated on the School Calendar, any time missed beyond that allotted will be made up AFTER MAY 26.

Parents, Patrons, Teachers
Board Members and Staff, Parents and Community Members, Students, your voice is important as Howard-Winn begins to take the next steps forward.

Our school district has requested a Needs Assessment Survey be conducted by the Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB). This electronic online survey is designed to help us assess our strengths and areas of needed improvement, with a focus on improving student achievement. All responses are anonymous and we "Thank you" in advance for your participation.

University of Northern Iowa in CADET NATION.
It was GREAT to have Dean Gaëtane Jean-Marie, Ph.D, here at Howard-Winn Thursday, February 23, 2017. She was able to tour the K-8 Building and Crestwood High School.  She left impressed and I am confident our relationship with UNI will grow!

Learning at Howard-Winn last week looked like...
