Dollars for Scholars

The Crestwood Dollars for Scholars held their Senior Awards Assembly on Wednesday evening. Well over 100 different scholarships were awarded to support students and encourage educational achievement. Theses scholarships totaled in the neighborhood of $225,000 for Crestwood Graduates to continue their education following CHS.

Thank you to the generous contributions of the community and the committee members who donate their time, talents, and resources to support CHS Graduates.

Col. Joe Herold

Col. Herold presented to 7-12 students on Friday, May 5th.  The purpose of his presentation was to promote leadership and service to students at Crestwood.

Joe “Hark” Herold is the founder and CEO of Hark Leadership Development, a consulting firm based on the principle that leadership, decision-making, and a human-centered approach to innovation can transform organizations. Hark believes passionately that leadership is an action available to anyone in an organization, not just those who occupy a position of authority—a conviction he developed over more than two decades of military service. As a colonel in the Air Force Reserve, Hark is currently on military orders at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, helping to establish AF CyberWorx, the Air Force Cyber Innovation Center. AF CyberWorx utilizes the “Design Thinking” (human-centered design) construct for technology innovation and cadet education while leveraging and pushing the bounds of private-public partnerships.

Hark graduated from Notre Dame High School in Cresco, Iowa, in 1984 and then earned a Bachelor of Science from Iowa State University. He has master’s degrees from Troy State University and the Army War College. Additionally, he is a graduate of various executive education courses at Wharton School of Business, the Harvard Kennedy School, and the Carnegie Mellon University School of Design.

Graduation 2017

Wednesday, May 17th will be the final classroom day for seniors who have earned enough credits to graduate. All final tests must be taken and books handed in by the end of the day.

Practice for Commencement and individual pictures by Zahasky Photography will be Thursday, May 18th. All graduating seniors are expected to attend this practice. Pictures begin at 8:00 a.m. and practice will begin at 9:00 a.m. Bring your cap and gown with you.

Also on May 18th, students are required to turn in their laptop at 8:00 a.m.

The Senior Awards Assembly will be held on Wednesday, May 17th at 7:00 p.m. in the High School Gymnasium. All seniors are expected to attend the Senior Awards Assembly. Seniors who have earned awards and scholarships will be honored and recognized.

Graduation will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 21st.

Graduating seniors are expected to be in the High School Media Center no later than 1:15 p.m.

Caps, gowns, stoles, and tassels are for the graduates to keep. National Honor Society stoles, Academic Honor Cords, and Silver Cords are the property of Crestwood High School. Students who will wear them on Graduation Day need to go to the Media Center at the conclusion of the Ceremony and turn them in.

The High School Gymnasium seats are reserved for parents. Parents may allow another family member (i.e. grandparents) to have their seats if they prefer to sit in the bleachers. After 1:45, the remaining seats on the gymnasium floor will be available to anyone.

Only seniors who will receive a diploma will be allowed to participate in the ceremony. Just because a student is a senior does not entitle them to participate in the ceremony if they have NOT met the graduation requirements.

We are looking forward to a great commencement ceremony.
